We left Switzerland on February 1st, but I've been too sad to write a goodbye post. It was very tough to leave, not only because we had so many amazing adventures, but because we made such great friends who are such fantastic people. When Darren and I arrived back from California after his work trip and my interview, we only had three days to get organized before the movers were coming. Even though our stuff was getting moved out, we actually did not fly back for several days. Like I mentioned way back in the beginning of our move, the landlord does not pay a minimal fee to have the apartment cleaned, you are in charge of that yourself and they expect it to be deeply cleaned. So you can try and do it yourself, or you can have a company clean it that will guarantee it will be done to the landlord's standards. So we decided to go with a company and they need two days to clean the apartment and then we hand it over and then we can leave. So our stuff was moved out on Thursday and Friday, we moved into a hotel Friday night while the company cleaned our apartment on Monday and Tuesday. We had the apartment inspection Tuesday afternoon with our rental company, which took 45 minutes as they combed over shelf and every blind to make sure everything was clean enough. Then we left Wednesday morning.
Before we left though, we spent our last days saying goodbye to everyone. My sweet friends had a small dinner party for me on Saturday night where we ate all things Swiss like Raclette. I don't have the pictures from that party, but Darren did take some pictures of me and my friends at church the next day. A lot of people had left before I could take some pictures after church, so this is only a small sampling of all the great people we met while we were there.
My friend Nancy was the first person to say hello to us on our first Sunday
My friend Meg who is so fun to be around
My friend Jessi who is one of the most thoughtful people I know
Tanya, Megan, Heidi, me, and Amy (all fantastic ladies)
Four of Amy's kids, who I adore, I miss them!
All of these great people and more helped us so many times with moving things, picking up things, taking us somewhere, feeding us, and were just great friends in general. It was hard to leave them, but I hope we get visit some time in the future!
